How Viyan Built a ₹2 Crore AI Content Business at 22 Using Generative AI

So at one point you started with KineMaster and today you are making projects for big clients. What revenue are you making per month right now?

Approximately ₹15 lakh per month.

₹15 lakh. How many clients do you have right now?

I mean, our clients keep coming and going. But to date, we must have taken around 25 clients.

So we have made an ad for Mahindra. Then we made an ad for Vasmol using AI. We made a Mahabharata trailer using AI, which became quite famous.

How Can We Make Money Using AI?

For those people who are watching this video, would you like to tell them how we can make money using AI?

Look, there are many ways to use AI. I mean, when I started, I used to charge ₹10 for a thumbnail.

I thought, “I will get ₹10. I will make 10 thumbnails and I will have ₹100. That will cover my weekly canteen expenses.”

Building an AI Business With Skills

How many team members do you have right now?

We currently have 30 employees.

I mean, at the age of 22, you have done quite well, right? And how far did you study?

As far as studies are concerned, I had given up hope after ninth grade. I failed in ninth grade.

The profitable things in AI will be those where, suppose something costs you lakhs, you can do it for thousands.

Things that are being made for thousands cannot be made for ₹100.

Right now, this is a very fast-moving generation.

Earlier, it was like, “Okay, study for 10 years and then we will see what happens.”

But now, things are changing every month.

Fail fast, learn fast.

And how much total revenue have you generated so far?

A total of ₹2 crore.

In how much time?

One and a half years.

So, you learned all these things at such a young age. How did you learn them?

I mean, I learn everything from YouTube.

No courses?

No, no paid courses.

In AI, paid courses seem like a scam to me.

What Does Viyan Gandhi Actually Do?

If I have to explain to my audience what Viyan Gandhi does, what would you say?

I just learn skills and teach people, and money is generated from that automatically.

Exactly what skills do you learn?

The main skills are people skills. Whatever is happening in the world right now, whether it is AI or anything else, the main thing is people skills.

So what are you currently doing?

Currently, I run a company called Augmentables, which is one of India’s first GenAI service provider companies.

And we have worked on quite a lot of things in AI.

There is a movie called Mirai. We did quite a lot of AI shots in it.

Have you seen the movie?

Then we make thousands of minutes of AI content for companies.

What software do you use to create these videos? Could you tell us a little about them?

Yes. We use GenAI tools. Pre-existing Midjourney, Nano Banana, Kling, Seedance—basically, commercially available tools.

And we also build some in-house tools ourselves so that we can make prompting faster.

How Viyan Gandhi Started His Career at 14

What is your age right now?

At the age of 22, you are doing all these things. When did you start working?

I started when I was 14 years old.

How did you start?

As a video editor.

Okay, so I used to edit videos on my phone using KineMaster and things like that.

At that time, PUBG was very famous, so I used to edit videos for my friends because I enjoyed doing creative things.

From there, I started getting a few clients.

What kind of videos were you editing for clients?

PUBG. Basically, gaming videos.

How Did the First Clients Find Him?

And how did clients reach out to you in the beginning?

Clients were not actually my intention.

I was 14 years old and my intention was to increase followers.

I thought that if I got 100 followers in school, that would be a big deal.

So I just used to edit and tell them, “Just give me credit in the caption.”

As I kept doing this, players with more followers started reaching out to me because they saw that I made good edits.

Then someone with 10,000 followers reached out.

I didn’t charge him either.

I said, “Just give me credit too.”

Then someone with 500 followers reached out.

I told him the same thing: “No, just give me credit.”

Then someone came who had 3 lakh followers.

We then—

I still told him, “Just give me credit.”

He gave me proper credit.

He enjoyed it, and after that, I started getting quite a lot of clients.

So basically, you wanted to become famous.

Yes.

So when those people gave you credit, your followers increased.

Yes, quite a lot.

Within two or three months, I had around 5,000 followers.

And then I started getting many clients directly.

At that point, I didn’t have to convince them, saying, “Why should I charge this much?” and all that.

They already knew that I did good work, so they paid whatever I asked for.

The Importance of Building Credibility

So, in a fun way, you learned a big lesson that if I only know editing and have done a course, I cannot charge ₹10,000 per video.

I have to build some credibility.

By doing that, clients started coming to me.

How much did you charge?

When I started, I used to charge around ₹10 for a thumbnail because I didn’t know how much to charge.

I thought, “I’ll get ₹10. I will make 10 thumbnails and have ₹100. That will cover my canteen expenses for the week.”

But then some of my friends told me how much I should charge.

Then I started charging around ₹5,000–₹7,000 for 10-minute videos.

How Did Viyan Gandhi Enter AI?

Then how did you enter AI?

Quite recently. It has been around two years.

Actually, more than two years.

I had a lot of interest in augmented reality and virtual reality.

I wanted to make books for children, cartoon books.

But at that time, I didn’t have enough funds to hire a graphic designer who could create cartoons and cartoon books.

But my background was in video editing and graphic designing, so I knew Canva and things like that quite well.

Then I discovered Midjourney.

Midjourney had just come out.

I saw that people were creating cartoons with Midjourney, and they looked really good.

So I thought, “I can do this too.”

I learned it from YouTube.

I invested ₹100 in it, and then I designed the entire book using Canva.

I created the cartoons with Midjourney and designed them in Canva.

I added fonts and everything.

A graphic designer had charged me ₹5 lakh.

I made those books for ₹1,400, including the Canva subscription.

That is how we entered AI.

But at that time, it was not just Midjourney. It could only create images, and those were quite decent.

But then we launched those books, and we suffered a heavy loss.

So I said, “This is not going to work.”

From AI Images to AI Videos

But then AI videos came.

I mean, image-to-video came.

So I thought, “AI is already here, so let’s get into this.”

Then we got into it.

We made a few ads.

And we made a Mahabharata trailer using AI, which became quite famous.

For a client or for yourself?

For ourselves.

That trailer was made for ourselves.

Then we uploaded it on YouTube, LinkedIn and everywhere.

It went viral everywhere.

From there, we got quite a lot of views and clients.

The trailer got around 1.7 million views in about 10 days.

7 million views?

1.7 million.

1.7 million.

And how much is it now?

It is almost the same.

I think it has reached 1.8 million now.

But we built on that.

We got quite a lot of clients from it.

Then we made another episode.

That got almost close to 1 million views.

Then we uploaded another episode.

That got 900,000 views.

And that’s how it went.

What tools did you use to create that trailer?

Midjourney and Kling.

Kling.

AI Tools Used to Create a Mahabharata Trailer

If you had to create that same trailer today, or a better trailer than that, what tools would you use?

I would use Midjourney, Nano Banana and Seedance.

With those, you can now make a trailer in half an hour.

It has become that much better.

At that time, it took us around three days.

Now it can be made in half an hour.

And it will be better.

How Much Does an AI Content Company Earn?

So at one point you started with KineMaster and today you are creating projects for big clients.

What revenue are you making per month right now?

Approximately ₹15 lakh per month.

₹15 lakh.

How many clients do you have right now?

Our clients keep coming and going.

But to date, we must have taken around 25 clients.

And what work do they get done from you?

So, we make ads.

We made an ad for Mahindra.

Then we made an ad for Vasmol using AI.

So we make ads.

But our main focus is usually long-form content.

Companies like Pocket FM or OTT platforms come to us.

For them, we make micro-dramas.

They have 30-minute episodes.

So we take contracts from them for 500–500 minutes.

How Long Does It Take to Make AI Videos?

When you make micro-dramas, are they cartoon videos or realistic human-like videos?

It can be any style.

So how much time does it take you to make one video?

It depends on the quality.

If we are making something that is OTT-level, something that can go on television or into theatres, then for 30 minutes, with around 20 people, it takes us approximately one month.

But if it is a micro-drama in vertical format that has to go on Reels, then we can easily make 100 minutes with 20 people in one month.

Hmm.

How many team members do you have right now?

Currently, 30 employees.

So you must be spending quite a lot on salaries.

I mean, at the age of 22, you have done quite well, right?

And how far did you study?

I had given up hope after ninth grade.

I failed in ninth grade.

Then I gave my 10th.

And I did not go to college because at that time I was building a company.

Okay.

But then I gave my 12th and failed.

Apart from that—

When I was in 12th, I had a crypto-based company.

Okay.

I started that.

We used to build virtual art galleries to showcase NFTs.

I ran that for one year.

And when I was in 12th, I sold it.

How much did you sell it for?

$2,000.

How did you find the client you sold it to?

Even then, I used the same format, similar to the video editing one.

I used to go to Discord.

There were many crypto communities on Discord.

I would go there and tell them, “Just try this once. We have made something. See how it feels. Share it if you like it.”

That way, there was a company from the UK.

They saw it.

They had meetings.

They liked it.

Then they proposed that they wanted to buy the whole thing.

Okay.

So you sold it for $12,000?

How much did it cost you to build?

It cost approximately ₹2.5 lakh.

That was the first time I had asked my father for money like that.

So were you satisfied that it was going for $12,000?

Yes.

Because I faced quite a lot of difficulties.

It was my first startup.

I took quite a lot of risks.

A lot of things went wrong.

So I was already in a very difficult position.

And crypto as a business seemed very risky to me.

So at that time, I was quite satisfied that it worked out.

How to Make Money Using AI

Today, there are so many AI tools, and AI is being used in every industry.

For those watching this video, would you like to tell them how we can make money using AI?

Look, there are many ways.

It depends on what your goal is.

If your goal is to make pocket money and you want ₹10,000–₹20,000 a month, there is a different format for that.

If your goal is to make ₹1 lakh a month, there is a different format for that.

And if you want to go very far in this, there is a completely different path.

If you want to make pocket money, it is very simple.

The easiest thing is GenAI.

GenAI means creating images, creating videos.

There are many tools.

But if you are making ads, for example, target small brands.

Tell them, “I will make ads for you.”

Or tell them, “I will create your entire year’s social media posts for you.”

If they are jewellery shops or restaurants, you can easily make ₹10,000 per month in profit.

How to Make ₹50,000 to ₹1 Lakh With AI

Then, if your goal is to make ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh per month using AI, you will have to add more value.

I would say, go and learn how AI is used in law.

Learn how AI is used in accounting.

Then go to firms and teach them on a consultancy basis.

Tell them, “I have done complete research on how lawyers can use AI.”

“And I can significantly reduce the cost of your paralegals.”

“I can reduce your time.”

“So keep me on a retainer basis and I will become your consultant.”

And if you want to build a career in this, that is completely different.

Then you need to pick a niche and go very deep into it.

Suppose you want to build a career in the creative industry.

Then you have to pick that field and go very deep into AI tools and spend some time.

How to Write Better AI Prompts

When we talk about AI, we talk about prompts.

The better your prompts are, the better the results will be.

Right?

How do we write good prompts?

How do we learn?

There are some very important tips for writing good prompts.

One tip is that whenever you write a prompt, at the end tell the AI:

“Ask me any questions you might have to give me a better result.”

So while writing the prompt, if you forgot something, it will ask you:

“Tell me this so I can write a better prompt.”

Then there is context.

A lot of people use it like Google.

They say, “Just do this for me.”

Done.

But that’s not how it works.

If you give it context, for example:

“I am 22 years old.”

“I have a company.”

“I sell these things.”

“Now I need to write an email to a potential client.”

“I am trying to sell this to them.”

“These are my pros.”

“What are these?”

“Now write the email.”

If you compare the results, there will be a massive difference.

So these two tips are very important.

Give it context.

And ask it, “If I am missing something, tell me.”

Fix that.

These two things alone will make your prompting 50% better.

Do You Need to Give AI Context Every Time?

Now, if we have been using a tool for a long time, it already knows my age and what I do.

So do I need to give such prompts repeatedly?

If it is a paid tool, you don’t need to give it repeatedly.

But if it is a free model, you may have to give it repeatedly.

Usually, if you are starting a fresh chat, especially when you are doing important work, it is always better to give context.

Give it some personalized context based on the topic.

Best AI Tools for Content Creators

For content creators, what basic AI tools would you suggest that can make their work easier and better?

I would say that if you want to create automated content, many new tools have arrived.

I am not that up to date on them.

But there is a tool called HeyGen that has been around for years.

You can create automated content with it.

And there is a tool made by one of my friends called Beehook.

What they made is that you put in your script or ideas, train your model, and it gives you edited videos.

In HeyGen, you mainly get lip-syncing.

This gives you the editing as well.

The B-roll in between, sound effects, captions—it does all of that automatically.

And it also posts everything for you automatically.

So you can check that out.

Is AI More Expensive Than Human Employees?

It is also being heard now that AI tools are becoming more expensive when we use AI through APIs.

Sometimes AI starts costing more than a human employee.

What do you think?

The AI revolution is as popular as it is.

Will it really replace things?

Will people use AI for everything?

Does it feel costly to you?

But it doesn’t happen like that.

Right now, we are working on Seedance.

Our cost per click is such that if you accidentally press Enter after entering the prompt, it can cost ₹1,200.

So it is that expensive.

So it is definitely expensive.

But I think if you compare its cost ratio—

Suppose I am talking about production.

Creative production, such as ads.

If an ad would cost you ₹1 lakh to shoot, then even after the credits become expensive, you can make it for a few thousand rupees.

If you manage that ratio, then it doesn’t become such a big problem.

But if you go into other areas, like coding, there are many companies.

I think Microsoft found it so expensive that their entire year’s budget got used up in three or six months in tokens.

I think Uber had this.

Yes.

Yes, maybe Uber had this.

Uber did.

Yes.

So that is quite a risky thing that I have personally seen.

What the solution will be, we don’t know yet.

We will use the tools that buy things at a lower price.

Yes.

And bringing it down to a lower price is a little difficult right now because so much energy is being used.

Now nuclear plants are being built to power it.

I mean, it has become massive.

But I think it is progressive technology.

Three years ago, nobody even knew what AI was.

Then it came and disrupted so much.

It is promising technology.

I think it will become cheaper.

Is AI Better for Enterprises or Small Businesses?

Don’t you think AI tools are expensive at the individual level?

Is it only worth using for enterprises?

No.

I would say they are more expensive for enterprises.

Okay.

If you are doing it at massive scale, it becomes difficult to track.

And when you are using AI, you already need employees.

So you have the AI cost on top of the employee cost.

And you cannot mitigate it across 100 people by knowing who is using how much.

But if you are an individual, say a small business owner, then this is like God for you.

Suppose you have a small business.

You need to do sales outreach.

Claude can automate it for you.

It may cost you ₹10,000 per month.

But Claude can automate the outreach for you.

Take a Freepik subscription.

It can create ads for you.

If you need to upload products on Amazon and need to do a photoshoot, it can do that for you as well.

And all of this can happen for around ₹2,000–₹5,000 per month.

So for small businesses, AI is absolutely the best.

When Should You NOT Use AI?

For example, I was trying to make some videos where everything was created using AI and then monetize them on YouTube.

But the cost was becoming so high that if we got it done by a person, it was cheaper.

That is why I asked this question.

I would say that now there are some things that you should not make using AI.

We have reached that point.

Earlier, AI was cheap, so people were making everything with it.

But what difference will you see?

The content becomes mediocre.

The profitable things in AI will be those where, suppose something costs you lakhs, you can do it for thousands.

Things that are being made for thousands cannot be made for ₹1.

That’s how it is.

Got it.

Will AI Replace Jobs in the Next 5 Years?

So, regarding job replacement and jobs going away, what do you think the situation will be in the next five years?

Look, I give a lot of lectures.

I tell everyone the same thing.

I have given the same answer to this question a thousand times.

AI will replace mediocrity, not jobs.

Take two developers.

Both graduated from the same college.

One has no interest in coding.

His parents forced him into it.

The other has been coding since school level.

He enjoys it.

Now this person knows what “donkey work” is.

He will make AI do that donkey work.

The work that would take 10 days, he will finish in two days.

But if someone doesn’t even know what the donkey work is, he won’t be able to do it.

He will remain stuck doing the donkey work.

So the person who is interested will replace the donkey work with AI and finish all the work very quickly.

But someone who isn’t interested won’t understand how to do it.

Earlier, companies used to hire people who knew less and give them low-level work.

But now, all entry-level jobs will be replaced.

People who are genuinely interested in coding will use AI and move much further ahead.

But those who are not interested won’t be able to do much.

How to Identify the Right Skills Early

Great.

You understood many things at a very young age.

You understood video editing very early.

Then you entered crypto.

You built your own startup there and sold it.

And then you entered AI.

And in all these things, I see that you are a very early adopter.

How do you identify that, “This is a skill I should learn”?

And at the same time, what would you suggest to young people about skills they should definitely learn?

Look, this is the fastest-moving generation right now.

Earlier, it was like:

“Okay, study for 10 years and then we will see what happens.”

But now, things are changing every month.

I don’t know how, but I have had this in me from the beginning:

Fail fast, learn fast.

I said this in the previous podcast as well.

The reason I am able to adapt early is that I don’t get stuck on one failure.

And not even failure.

If I see even a small problem, I mitigate it and think about where it will go next.

So if I am going to fail, I will fail quickly.

A lot of children make the mistake of saying:

“I want to start a startup.”

“I’ll first get some experience and then do it.”

Then they get experience and say:

“I’ll save some money first and then do it.”

Then they get stuck somewhere.

Then they say:

“No, no, I have already invested this much money. I have to continue.”

“Let’s stretch it a little more.”

They keep stretching it.

A year passes.

And then they realize that it is not going to work.

So what do I do?

If I want to do something, I don’t have patience.

I do it right away.

If there is a loss, it will be a small loss.

Fine.

Learn from why it didn’t work.

Next.

So I think this is a skill everyone should learn.

All ages.

Not just the younger generation, but the older generation as well.

What Was the Most Expensive AI Project?

If we talk about your most expensive projects, what was the most expensive project and who was it for?

Our most expensive project was Pocket FM.

For Pocket FM, we created roughly 500 minutes of content.

They were a client worth ₹70 lakh.

The entire project was a ₹70 lakh deal.

There were quite a few ups and downs in that.

And I still say that I got that work by lying.

When I started Augmentables after the loss, when we uploaded the trailer, I had hardly ₹10,000–₹15,000 in my bank account.

I had no team.

Nothing.

I only knew AI.

Then I started getting quite a lot of calls from the trailer.

Among them, I got a call from Pocket FM.

They said, “We want to make this kind of video.”

“You made something good.”

“How big is your team?”

I told them, “Yes, we have a team. What do you want us to do?”

They said, “We want to get 300–400 minutes done.”

I said, “Our team is an eight-person team. We can do it here in Mumbai. That’s not a problem.”

Then they said, “Okay, let’s do it.”

And on that one call, we had already signed ₹27 lakh worth of work.

Then I started hiring.

I trained people.

We got the work done.

Then, midway through the project, we had some problems.

We couldn’t deliver good work because there were some mistakes from their side and some mistakes from our side.

So I thought:

“This work is going to get cancelled.”

Then I immediately told my team:

“Do one thing.”

“Make a really good trailer.”

“A two-minute trailer that is absolutely amazing.”

And I immediately went to the office.

I told them:

“I’m coming for a meeting. Let’s meet.”

I met them.

I said:

“We are doing this work for you.”

“These mistakes are happening.”

“Look at this trailer.”

“We can also do work at this level.”

We were doing work for them at ₹20,000 per minute.

I upsold them and got work from them at ₹35,000–₹40,000 per minute.

That way, we added another 300–400 minutes to the project.

From the point where the project was about to be cancelled until after that, we—

How Do You Decide What to Charge an AI Client?

Now, suppose you got such a big deal at a very early stage.

How did you convince them that the project would cost this much?

And how did you estimate that, “I should quote this much”?

When that call was happening, I was sitting at my PC.

Whenever I got a call, I would think:

“I don’t want my client to hear this.”

I would immediately Google:

“Pocket FM funding”

or

“Pocket FM valuation.”

From there, I could understand how much I should charge them.

They had raised several million dollars in funding.

So I thought:

“Let’s quote this much and see what happens.”

And at that time, our video had already become famous.

We were almost at the top among GenAI creators in India.

So I thought:

“What do we have to lose?”

Let’s see.

If it is too high, we can reduce it.

How much do you quote per minute now?

At the bare minimum, we currently charge at least ₹60,000–₹70,000 per minute because the tools have become quite expensive now.

So things have changed.

This was a year and a half ago.

AI Video Production Cost vs Traditional Production

You are saying ₹70,000 per minute.

If the client shoots it themselves with real humans, what would the cost be?

Look, the work we used to do for Pocket FM—

Earlier, they used to shoot a one-hour production in the US.

Their one-hour shoot would cost approximately ₹1 crore.

We would make a one-hour video for roughly ₹20–25 lakh.

So your clients are of this type?

Clients who have funding and are working at a fairly large level?

Yes.

AI Video Production Workflow: From Script to Final Product

I would like to know what the workflow of any project looks like.

From the beginning to the final product.

So when the client comes, sometimes they already have a script.

Sometimes they simply say:

“We want to make an ad.”

“You tell us.”

If they already have the script, we first start by creating the characters.

Suppose there are five lead actors in the script.

We create their characters and send them over.

“We have three options for this character. Choose one.”

And it is similar to a real-life shoot.

Then they lock everything.

Then we lock the locations.

Suppose the script has an office, a boardroom and a bedroom.

We create those using AI.

Once they are ready, we start creating the videos.

First, we create the images.

We make the images.

Then we convert them into videos.

Then we send the client a first draft of one or two minutes.

They like it.

Then we start the complete production.

Then there are three rounds of changes.

Step-by-Step AI Video Production Process

What tools do you use?

Tell us step by step.

What tools do you use for characters?

For characters, we use Nano Banana.

Nano Banana is the best because its prompt adherence is much better.

Whatever you tell it, it follows exactly.

Proper angles also come out.

So Nano Banana is one.

We create the characters there.

Then we go to Midjourney and create the locations.

To create different angles of those locations, we use Nano Banana again.

We can create different angles of the same location.

Then we animate them using Kling and Seedance.

We put the character in it.

We put the location in it.

And tell it what acting we want and what dialogues we want them to speak.

Then the video comes.

Our editor edits it.

We get 15-second clips.

We cut them and line them up.

Then we add sound effects.

We add music.

Then we do dubbing.

If the client wants proper human emotion, then we get dubbing done over it.

Where do you get the sound effects and music from?

We try to create them using AI.

ElevenLabs is very good for the majority of sound effects and music.

How to Learn AI Without Paid Courses

Great.

You learned all these things at such a young age.

How did you learn?

I learn everything from YouTube.

I didn’t take any courses.

No paid courses?

No.

For AI, I think paid courses are a scam.

Because it will take you one month to create a course.

By the time you make it and upload it, it becomes outdated.

So the best way is to learn from YouTube.

And if I can give one tip for learning:

Go to YouTube and search for “Generative AI Basics.”

You will learn the basics.

You will understand what GenAI is.

Learn about its major tools.

Freepik, Kling and others.

Take their basic subscriptions.

After that, just copy things.

Take one of our videos.

Take our trailer.

Say:

“Now I want to copy exactly the same thing.”

Then copy every shot exactly.

Compare and see where you are lagging.

Then watch a tutorial.

Suppose your character consistency isn’t coming properly.

Go to YouTube and search:

“How to bring character consistency with AI.”

Watch the latest tutorial and learn it.

Then suppose you feel:

“My animation isn’t looking better.”

Search:

“How to get action shots using AI.”

There are so many tutorials on YouTube.

In this way, copy our video exactly.

Then, if you are satisfied and feel:

“Okay, I have learned this.”

Then try something of your own.

In this way, I think you can easily learn it within a month.

You don’t need a course.

Is AI Increasing Creativity or Destroying It?

Do you think AI is increasing creativity or destroying it?

Most people have become lazy.

They think:

“Let me just tell AI to do it.”

Both things are happening.

To be honest, I am a huge fan of movies and series.

I really love cinematography.

And when I see mediocre content made using AI, it actually hurts me.

I think:

“Why did AI come?”

But I know some creators who are using AI to create things that were not possible before.

We have a director friend in London.

He is 40 years old.

His dream was to make his own movie.

He wanted to make a cartoon movie.

But it wasn’t possible because it would require crores of rupees.

But now he learned AI at the age of 45.

And now he is making a theatre-release series.

It is animated.

He only hired five people.

And they made it.

I saw it.

And it is so good that you cannot imagine.

So there are pros and cons.

Some people are using it in the wrong way.

They will create mediocre content.

And somewhere, the truly creative people are taking it to the next level.

Things that studios of 30 or 300 people couldn’t do, five people can now do.

What Impact Will AI Have on the Movie Industry?

Do you think it will have a positive or negative impact on the movie industry?

What do you think?

It will have a positive impact.

This is a very disruptive space.

When we were working on Mirai, we were on the director’s set working.

We were working on a war scene where there was a complete battlefield.

Yes.

A gentleman came and asked:

“What are you making?”

We explained everything to him.

Then we found out that he was a set designer.

Looking at him, we asked what he did.

He said:

“What you are creating using AI, if we had to build it in real life, we would need at least 250 people.”

250 people would get jobs.

And a lot of money would be spent.

I mean, 250 people would get jobs.

Hearing that made me think a lot.

So now there will be a good impact on movies.

There will also be a bad impact.

Will the product be good or bad?

Because jobs are going away for mediocre workers.

Yes.

If those people also learn AI, their jobs can continue.

So in terms of the product, the product will be better.

Right?

AI and the Future of Indian Cinema

Now, in some places, suppose—

Even if you compare India with Marvel, I will explain it in terms of movies.

Compare India with Marvel.

Many of our superheroes are similar to Marvel superheroes.

How big could those superheroes become?

But in India, usually, there is a shortage of budget.

That is a problem in the Indian movie industry.

Now, if we use AI and take them to Marvel-level skills, India’s content game can also improve massively.

It will.

Suppose you don’t even take AI.

Look at Adipurush.

What did they achieve after spending so much money?

So I think AI will also bring many better things.

Jobs are definitely being replaced.

But that is part of the game.

Will Audiences Enjoy AI-Generated Content?

The audience says that AI creates fake things.

It doesn’t feel real.

Will they be able to enjoy content made with AI?

Look, I think fake things are being created because people are allowing them.

A lot of hyper-realistic things are being created that you cannot even imagine.

You look at them and say:

“Oh shit, this is AI?”

In India, many people have less patience.

We have seen quite a few movies where AI was used.

But the work was quite mediocre.

Because they don’t have patience.

Whereas when we work with foreign clients, they will say:

“Take three months to make one minute.”

“But it has to be picture-perfect.”

“Take whatever budget you want.”

I think it will become much better very soon.

What Is the Most Overrated AI Tool?

Is there any most overrated AI tool that you would like to mention?

Overrated?

There isn’t really any tool like that.

Look, everything has its own pros and cons.

Seedance is quite good in physics and camera movements.

But what happens is that if you try to generate Hindi dialogue, it can sound quite fake.

If you use English, it can sound quite real.

Hmm.

So it is bad in that aspect.

But if you use another tool, maybe Kling—

I don’t know how it is now.

But earlier, Hindi things came out better in it.

So everyone has their own pros and cons.

Future Plans for Augmentables

What are your future plans?

My plan is to make Augmentables a content factory where we can produce complete theatre-level movies within a period of one month.

And make it the world’s biggest GenAI production house.

What Hardware Does an AI Production Company Need?

Now, to do so many things, you must also need hardware.

What PCs and things have you installed?

PCs?

We mainly just have laptops.

Nothing else.

Are they very high-end or normal?

No.

Everything runs on Google.

So you can have any laptop.

It just needs to run Google.

And how much total revenue have you generated so far?

A total of ₹2 crore.

In how much time?

One and a half years.

Great.

Amazing.

Thank you so much, Viyan.

It was really good talking to you.

And I hope the audience also enjoyed today’s episode.

Before you go, I would like you to give three suggestions or three tips to my audience.

Viyan Gandhi’s Three Tips for Young People

First, the same thing:

Fail fast, learn fast.

If you are trying something, try to fail quickly.

Because you are not going to succeed the first time.

So aim for:

“I want to fail quickly.”

“I want to find out where I am going wrong.”

And learn from it.

That’s it.

That is the main thing.

Great.

Thank you.
